According to Bloomberg reporting that Apple has allowed games publisher Big Fish the capability of offering monthly subscriptions. Customers would be able to subscribe for access to a dozens of titles, at the monthly cost of $6.99. This kind of subscription is familiar among magazine and newspaper publishers, but represents a first for App Store publishers.

The games will initially be available via WiFi only, accessible from Big Fish’s data centers. The initial offering will cost users $4.99 per month, but that’s expected to increase to $6.99 early next year as the company adds titles. Games include “Mystery Case Files” and the “Majong Towers”.

Its yearly cost would bring this to around $84. Seems to me that the low cost associated with owning games is more attractive then renting.
