The HTC Amaze 4G takes one of the best cameras in a phone ever from the myTouch 4G Slide and puts it inside an exquisitely designed device with a larger 4.3-inch screen and a faster 1.5-GHz dual-core processor.
It's like the Sensation 4G, but with a lot more speed and class. But that's not all this premium T-Mobile handset has going for it. It's one of the first phones to ride on the carrier's 42-Mbps 4G network, promising downloads speeds in excess of what many home Internet connections provide.
Pushing its photography credentials, the Amaze 4G's 8-megapixel shooter can record 1080p video, with a dedicated camera button (and even a ‘direct to camcorder’ button) to make the most of the handset's promised "zero shutter lag”. It’s also got that backlit sensor found in its sibling, the myTouch 4G Slide, so we're expecting admirable low-light performance, too. On the software side, it's running Android 2.3.4, coated in the inevitable Sense veneer and supporting the likes of HTC Watch and T-Mobile TV.
The Amaze takes after the Sensation 4G in body and build. The size and shape are very similar, with a flat, ever-so-slightly recessed face and a gently curved back. The patterns on the back are different, however a metallic panel abuts soft-touch material and the buttons and fit and finish materials have their own character.
The handset comes in two colors: black and white.
